I’m a writer living in Northern California with my wife Lois and the world’s friendliest dog, Kiwi. My twin passions have always been writing and public policy. My most enjoyable day jobs have been those for the State of California. For two governors I served as Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services. Later, for the Department of Finance, I managed the staff overseeing California’s Environmental Protection Agency and the Natural Resources Agency. Now I’ve launched a new career that combines my two interests. As a result, my stories and novels often reflect newsworthy issues and events.
